The Tipitina’s Foundation, Gambit’s Foundation for Entertainment Development and Education, Silence is Violence and United Way of Southeast Louisiana have established The 19 Fund, a special fund-raising effort to aid the victims of the May 12 shooting — and future victims of violence in greater New Orleans. The 19 Fund was the brainchild of representatives of the four nonprofits as well as several concerned citizens who volunteered to help victims of the shooting.
Funds raised will go toward helping victims who may need money, services, or support.
Text NOLA to 80088 to make a $10 donation, or click here to donate via credit card.
(there is also a benefit concert at Tipitina’s here in New Orleans tomorrow night)
Cover reveal for Ascension. It’s gorgeous and I couldn’t be happier with it. I hope you love it too!

“Alana Quick is the best damned sky surgeon in Heliodor City, but repairing starship engines barely pays the bills. When the desperate crew of a cargo vessel stops by her shipyard looking for her spiritually-advanced sister Nova, Alana stows away. Maybe her boldness will land her a long-term gig on the crew. But the Tangled Axon proves to be more than star-watching and plasma coils. The chief engineer thinks he’s a wolf. The pilot fades in and out of existence. The captain is all blond hair, boots, and ego … and Alana can’t keep her eyes off her. But there’s little time for romance: Nova’s in danger and someone will do anything-even destroying planets-to get their hands on her.”
Sounds far preferable to anything involving yet another self-worshipping white male egomaniacal misogynist with a saviour complex.

flywithturtles said: Sleepy Hollow and Almost Human are two of the shows I’m really looking forwards to, and I’m already prepared for cancelation after episode 5. …I’ve seen Fox shows before.
Ugh, Almost Human. I cannot stand how excited I am for that show, even though I know it’s going to end in regulation disappoinment. If it lasts past the fourth episode, I’m going to be really surprised.

I am with you! Also, I would like it if John Cho and Orlando Jones’s characters just snark endlessly at each other because that is my favorite thing in any show involving cops. :D
moriann asked: Re: John Cho, you do know he's going to be in a new show in the fall, right? (And with Nicole Beharie!)
I AM SO AWARE, AND SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHOW. FOR MANY REASONS, BUT MOSTLY: NICOLE BEHARIE, JOHN CHO, AND ORLANDO JONES. I’m in, at least until Fox fucks it up entirely.
Sulu: If you test me… You will fail.
Khan: In another life, we may have been friends.
Fashion is one of the very few forms of expression in which women have more freedom than men. And I don’t think it’s an accident that it’s typically seen as shallow, trivial, and vain. It is the height of irony that women are valued for our looks, encouraged to make ourselves beautiful and ornamental… and are then derided as shallow and vain for doing so. And it’s a subtle but definite form of sexism to take one of the few forms of expression where women have more freedom, and treat it as a form of expression that’s inherently superficial and trivial. Like it or not, fashion and style are primarily a women’s art form. And I think it gets treated as trivial because women get treated as trivial. — Fashion is a Feminist Issue: Greta Christina (via wildthicket)
If NBC actually publicized John Cho being a main character on Go On they could have salvaged its ratings.
“Supercolorfragilistic” bulky handspun
Chain ply but the color sections were too short for it to show
